CAIR-GA Plans To Co-Host Interfaith 9/11 Memorial Service on 15th Anniversary

(DECATUR, GA  – 9/8/16) On Sunday, September 11, the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-GA) plans to co-host a memorial service in Decatur, Ga., for the victims of 9/11.
 
CAIR-GA has united with Rev. Dr. James L. Brewer-Calvert, senior pastor of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and representatives of the Catholic, Jewish and Sikh faiths to host “Remember, Reconcile, Relate.”
 
“As Georgians of diverse faith traditions, we feel a special obligation to unite as one and pray for the thousands of men, women and children who lost their lives on 9/11,” said Edward Ahmed Mitchell, executive director of CAIR-GA.

 
 WHAT: Remember, Reconcile, Relate: 9/11 Interfaith Memorial Service
WHERE: Ebster Recreation Center, 404 West Trinity Street in Decatur, GA
WHEN: 3 p.m., Sunday, Sep. 11, 2016
 
 Attendees of diverse faiths plan to meet, greet and eat with each other for an hour starting at 3 p.m., before beginning the program at 4 p.m.
 
During the memorial service, law enforcement and first responders plan to deliver remarks about the sacrifices made by firefighters, police officers and paramedics on 9/11.
 
Representatives of different faiths will also to offer prayers for the victims of the attack.
