CAIR Georgia Speaks at Unitarian Christian Conference

(HAMPTON, GA - 4/30/16) CAIR Georgia recently took part in an interfaith dialogue at the 25th Theological Conference of the Restoration Fellowship. During the annual gathering of Christian Unitarians, Executive Director Mitchell delivered a presentation about Islam before sitting down with Sir Anthony Buzzard, an Oxford-educated theologian who teaches at Atlanta Bible College, to discuss similarities and differences between Unitarian Christianity and Islam.

CAIR Georgia Visits Warner Robins Mosque(WARNER ROBINS, GA - 4/29/16) CAIR Georgia leaders visited the Islamic Center of Middle Georgia on Friday, marking the latest stop in a campaign to visit every single mosque in the state over the next year, insha Allah. Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell and Board President Yusof Burke prayed and at dinner with community members before delivering a presentation about CAIR's plans in Georgia.

CAIR Georgia is offering each mosque a variety of free support, including seminars on Writing an Islamic Will, Public Speaking for Youth and Adults, Knowing Your Legal Rights & Responsibilites, and Emergency Response Training. CAIR GA Thanks Rep. David Scott For Backing Anti-Islamophobia Resolution

David Scott(ATLANTA, GA, 4/25/16) – The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-GA) today welcomed a decision by Rep. David Scott (D-GA) to co-sponsor an anti-Islamophobia congressional resolution (H.Res.569) following a meeting between his staff and representatives of the state’s Muslim community during National Muslim Advocacy Day on April 18th.

"You may be pleased to know that as a result of our meeting, Congressman Scott is cosponsoring H.Res.569, a resolution condemning violence, bigotry, and hateful rhetoric towards Muslims in the United States," said William Burriss, who met with the delegation of Georgia Muslims on behalf of Rep. Scott.

"We thank Congressman Scott for joining the effort to condemn anti-Muslim hate speech, which undermines our nation's commitment to tolerance, diversity and pluralism," said CAIR-GA Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell, who took part in the meeting with Rep. Scott's staff.

Anti-Islam Rally at State Capitol Fails Miserably

terry jones(ATLANTA, GA, 4/19/16) - The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-GA) today said that the failure of an anti-Islam rally yesterday at the state capitol shows that the people of that state reject bigotry. According to media reports, only two people showed up to support the protest.

CAIR Georgia Visits Capitol Hill Lawmakers in DC

CAIR Capitol 1(WASHINGTON, DC, 4/18/16) - CAIR Georgia leaders joined hundreds of delegates from other Muslim-American organizations for National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill on April 18th. The US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO) hosted the second annual event on April 18th and 19th. 

USCMO's Georgia delegation, which also included two other groups, secured meetings with the offices of thirteen of Georgia's sixteen congressional representatives, including the staff of Senator David Perdue (R) and Congressman John Lewis (D).


"We enjoyed teaming up with American Muslims from across the country and delivering a unified message to our congressional leaders," said CAIR Georgia Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell, who attended the event alongisde CAIR Georgia Board President Yusof Burke.
